Step-by-Step Application Process
- Before Travel: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months and you have confirmed onward tickets within 240 hours
- At Entry Port: Proceed to the special "240-Hour Visa-Free Transit" counter (usually marked with green signs)
- Required Documents:
- Valid passport from eligible country
- Confirmed onward ticket departing China within 240 hours
- Completed arrival/departure card (provided at counter)
- Processing Time: Usually 15-30 minutes during normal hours
- Receive Permit: You'll get a temporary entry permit sticker in your passport
Important Restrictions and Tips
- Geographic restriction: Must stay within the designated province/region where you entered
- No extensions: Cannot extend beyond 240 hours under any circumstances
- No work/study: Strictly for transit/tourism purposes only
- Overnight requirement: Must spend at least one night in China
